A Message from Our Principal
I will start with a bit of my background. Prior to becoming Valley’s principal, I taught Communication Arts for eleven years in grades six through eight. I also coached junior high and high school girls and boys basketball and girls’ high school softball. I earned my bachelor’s degree from College of the Ozarks in Point Lookout, MO and my master’s degree from Lindenwood University in St. Charles, MO. I have been involved in working with community youth outside of school throughout my career as an educator. I believe in today’s teens and know they are worth our time and efforts. They are our parents, our work force and our leaders of tomorrow, as well as being pretty awesome people today!
I do not say lightly that it is an honor to serve as Valley Junior and Senior High Principal. I have been both teacher and principal in our school, and I have witnessed how amazing our students are. I look forward to going to work each day because of all these different personalities walking our halls.
Along with our great students, we have an amazing staff. I watch them work diligently, trying different strategies and finding ways to improve their methods. Our staff cares about our students and wants to see them succeed.
We at Valley take pride in our school, and the tradition that has come before us, as well as the tradition we are continuing to contribute to today. Whether you are cruising our website, attending a Valley School event, or visiting our school, I hope you will join us as we celebrate who we have been, who we are, and who we are becoming!
Valley Junior and Senior High’s curriculum aligns with the Missouri Learning Standards to prepare our students for college and career. To help our students create a successful school experience tailored to their needs, all students at Valley enroll in an advisory period and link with an advisor to help them get the most out of their high school experience and make long term plans for college and/or career.
We are dedicated to ensuring our students are equipped to meet the challenges they will face tomorrow! For our students who desire a more rigorous class lineup, we offer AP and honors classes. Students who wish to jump-start college (and earn both high school and college credit at the same time) will enjoy our dual credit course offerings. And those who want a more in-depth look at specific careers will have the opportunity to join our work-study program or develop skills in career education.
Earn Dual Credit with Mineral Area College
Valley High School offers courses that students may take to earn high school and college credit at the same time! Utilizing our partnership with Mineral Area College, students can enroll to receive English composition, literature, and public speaking credits before they leave high school! All courses are taught on campus during regular school hours and are administrated by our high school staff.
Arcadia Valley Career Technical Center has partnered with us to provide students with access to vocational skills in computer networking, auto mechanics and repair, health, business, graphic design, welding, agriculture, and maintenance. Career Tech students spend half their day at Valley High School in regular education classes and the other half at AVCTC developing vocational skills to use after high school. Valley R-VI School District provides all transportation for students attending AVCTC.
